EXPERIENCE AND FACILITIES
Algetech was founded by Jan Berg-Nilsen in 1998 with the vision of establishing a sustainable industry of microalgae cultivation in the Nordic area, based on photobioreactor installed in greenhouses using CO2, sunlight and artificial light. Since the beginning Algetech Industrier AS has put many efforts and used quite a time in searching for the best production technology. IGV GmbH with its 25 years of experience in algae research and industrial production was chosen as technology partner. Algetech Industrier AS together with IGV GmbH completed a trial production in July 2006, which confirmed feasibility of large scale production in Scandinavia. Algetech Industrier AS goal is to become a leading company in the Nordic area, producing free of toxins and environmentally friendly substances for the feed, functional- and health food industries. In 2008 Algetech Industrier AS completed the planning of its first production plant. The company has during year 2008 delivered live microalgae biomass to the cod (Gadus Morhua) juvenile producers in Norway as well as built up the organization and distribution channels for the product. Salata GmbH, the German partner of Algetech Industrier AS, is producing the necessary microalgae biomass until Algetech Industrier AS starts to produce in its own facilities.
